National Night Out Registration - July 19

Join us and the Chesterfield Police Department at Westchester Commons this Sunday from 3 to 5PM to kick off registration for National Night Out, which is coming up on August 5th. As part of the Westchester Commons Summer Concert Series, Flat Elvis will be performing on the Village Green and Police, Firemen and McGruff the Crime Dog will be present, as well as, lots of other fun stuff and guests.
Ever wondered what it might be like to see 20 paddlers in a 40-foot boat race down the river to the beat of a drummer? That's what you'll get at the Richmond International Dragon Boat Festival! All of the boats will have ornate designs with the head and tail of a dragon. It is a great event for friends and family. For more information, click here!

2nd Annual Modul Assembly Youth Conference - August 8-10

The Joshua Generation Youth Department of Modul Assembly is having its 2nd Annual Youth Conference on August 8-10, 2014, 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. nightly.  The conference will be held at Church of God of Prophecy, 1201 Decatur St, Richmond, Va. 23224, where Dr. Charlie Jones is Pastor. On Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., roughly 4,000 volunteers will participate in a 5k charity walk at Byrd Park to find a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D). JDRF Central Virginia Chapter, a local chapter of the leading international nonprofit organization whose mission is to cure, treat and prevent T1D, aims to raise more than $480,000 towards the cause at this year’s event. JDRF’s Walk to Cure Diabetes encourages families, friends and co-workers to stay active while supporting a worthy cause.
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. As the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, JDRF has raised 1.7 billion since its founding in 1970, and currently sponsors $530 million in scientific research in 17 countries. Historically, more than 80 percent of JDRF’s expenditures have directly supported research and research-related education. In 2012 Forbes magazine named JDRF one of its five All-Star charities, citing the organization’s efficiency and effectiveness. Join 93.1 The Wolf at Richard Bland College on August 9th for the 15th Annual Southern Knights Cruisers Veterans Car & Bike Show to benefit Our Country's Veterans. Money that is raised will benefit the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program, the Fisher House, and McGuire Veterans Hospital. You don't want to miss this year’s show, where over 300 show cars, trucks, and bikes are expected to attend! No matter what you like, Antiques, Classics, Muscle Cars, Street Rods, Customs, Compacts, Off Road Trucks, Custom Trucks, Antique Military Trucks, Antique Fire Trucks, Antique Police Cars, Race Cars and Bikes, they will ALL be there! AND you won't want to miss out on these activities: Military static displays, Restored military vehicles, Troops from Fort Lee, The Army “B3” Band   (Playing from 12:00pm – 1:00pm), Nutsy from the Flying Squirrels baseball team (11:00am – 1:00pm), Texas Road House armadillo, Nascar driving simulator, Helicopter(s), Fire Trucks from several areas, State police for the children (fingerprinting), and Military recruitment personnel.
